In order to stay impartial, we’ve also done a ‘6 reasons why you should buy the iPhone over the Galaxy S7’ on our sister site Macworld UK, so check out that article before flaming us in the comments! This article is also written by someone who uses both Android and iOS on a daily basis.

Why the S7 is better than iPhone: Price

Price to us is always going to matter and for those on a tighter budget will opt for the Samsung Galaxy S7 over the iPhone 6s. Given its specs and it ranking as one of the best Android phones on the market, we don’t feel there are many disadvantages in getting the S7. Read next: Best phones 2016 UK.

Why the S7 is better than iPhone: Android customisations

The S7 is built on Android v6.0 Marshmallow and the operating system allows far greater customisations over Apple’s iOS. In fact, it’s been several years where Apple has been trying to catch up to Android’s level of customisation ability. On the S7, which has a TouchWiz layer on top of stock Android, you’ll be able to add endless different widgets to your homescreen, change the way the lockscreen behaves and even customise how the launcher and application drawer behaves. There are so many customisable options available that it would take several thousand words to detail them. Why the S7 is better than iPhone: Display quality

The S7 boasts a beautiful 5.1in SuperAMOLED 2560×1440 resolution display which has a huge 577 pixels per inch (ppi), meaning text is super clear and images appear vivid.  In comparison the iPhone 6s, has a 4.7in ‘Retina HD’ 1334×750 resolution display that has only 326 ppi. Just by looking at the numbers alone, it should give you a good indication of how much better the S7 is over the iPhone 6s in terms of display. The iPhone is simply no match for the clearer 2K display. Read next: Samsung Galaxy S7 edge review.

Why the S7 is better than iPhone: Micro-SD card slot

With the S7, Samsung brought back one of its major selling points with older generation phones, the Micro-SD card slot. The S7 comes with 32GB as standard, but with the help of the Micro-SD card slot can be boosted to a ridiculous 200GB. This is more than some computer storage devices and will enable you to take as many photos, videos and have as many apps as you could potentially ever need. In comparison the iPhone 6s doesn’t have a Micro-SD card slot, but comes in 16, 64 and 128GB sizes. Unfortunately this also means there’s a price to pay for more storage on your iPhone, with the 16GB model coming in at £539, 64GB at £619 and the 128GB at a ridiculous £699. Of course, there are ways of adding external storage to your iPhone, through the lightning port, but this does prevent you from charging your phone and having the extra storage enabled. It’s simple: If you want more storage on Apple you’re going to have to pay for it. If you have a lot of files and require a lot of space, then the S7 is a better option, both financially and capacity wise. Read next: Samsung Galaxy S7 vs Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.

Why the S7 is better than iPhone: Micro-USB slot

A lot of people were expecting the S7 to have USB Type-C, but it was shipped with a Micro-USB port instead. This did disappoint a few people, but on the other hand does mean you can still use your old chargers with your S7. There’s also a huge amount of gadgets which use a Micro-USB to charge, for example power banks – meaning you only need one cable for a vast majority of devices you have at home. See next: Best power banks 2016. On the other hand Apple has the lightning port, which is great if you have Apple-centric devices, but if you’re not one to have fully adopted the Apple ecosystem, then you’ll find that having a different cable for your phone creates inconveniences and the ‘have you got an Apple charging cable’ becomes the norm.  Why the S7 is better than iPhone: Waterproof

The S7 is IP68 certified, meaning it is dust proof and water resistant at 1.5 meter (for 30 minutes). This makes it extremely convenient if you happen to drop your phone in a puddle, pool or even accidentally leave it in the washing machine for a short cycle. The iPhone 6s is not waterproof nor dust proof, meaning if you were to accidentally drop it in water or have it on the beach, you might risk losing the phone’s functionality or have it become a brick.
